Bernadette McGoldrick is a stenographer/stenocaptioner with 20 years of experience working in the live captioning industry. She is passionate about using her unique skills to facilitate accessibility at events of all types.
Bernadette uses stenographic theory to "write" (type in chord-like shapes) on a shorthand machine at speeds of 250+ words per minute with 99.9% accuracy. Bernadette is proud to be a practitioner of the art of stenography and promotes the technical skill, training and human intelligence required to achieve the best captions you will ever see.
She has captioned national/international news bulletins and rolling coverage of world events, sporting competitions, conferences, virtual/hybrid events, scientific conferences, awards ceremonies, forums, information seminars, parliamentary proceedings, meetings, remembrance services, expos, musical performances, and much more.
Bernadette is based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. She's a classical musician, having attained an AMusA Diploma for piano as a teenager, and completed a Bachelor of Journalism before discovering stenography.
Bernadette is proud to be a member of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) of the USA. No such association currently exists in Australia. She has completed stenography examinations to gain the respected certifications of Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) and Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC). These designations are maintained through the fulfilment of continuing education requirements and by remaining an NCRA member in good standing.
